The companion news app to our "Transit Nightmare" story. I modeled every possible route from each census tract to each Baltimore middle and high school to build a trip planning tool for students that shows them their fastest route, estimated travel time and their route's reliability.

Key Bridge collapse could change rules for tugboats

Using ship location data I pulled in the direct aftermat of the Francis Scott Key Bridge crash, I identified inconsistencies in tug practices for this story on the lack of national tug regulations. Part of the package of story that won the 2024 IRE Award for investigations triggered by breaking news.

I spent part of my time as an intern at the Washington Post writing a script to reliably OCR years of Senate office spending data. I analyzed that in combination with house spending data and FEC campaign finance data to tell a story about the massive increase in security spending after January 6th.

Trump’s federal worker cuts are destabilizing the nation’s 2 richest Black counties

I set out to quantify the impact of federal worker cuts on the nation’s wealthiest Black counties. I used IPUMS microdata to chronicle Prince George's and Charles counties' 80-year transformation into upper-middle-class Black enclaves, examine the relationship between federal employment and household income in Black counties nationwide, and assess the economic impact of federal work for households in the counties.
